Three Notifications, One Matchday

The Feature Most Clubs Are Leaving on the Table
On matchday, a fan's phone is the most valuable piece of real estate your club owns in their hand before kickoff, in their pocket at halftime, back out the second the whistle blows. Three well-timed notifications across that window can engage fans in the moment, inform them of what's happening, and capitalize on attention most clubs are currently letting go to waste. Most apps only manage the first job and even that one badly.
1. Pre-match: Inform
Pre-match doesn't start two hours before kickoff, it starts weeks out. Ticket-sale reminders, meetup announcements, travel and parking info: these are all pushes that keep fans informed long before matchday arrives, and each one is a reason to open the app that has nothing to do with selling anything.
Then, in the final hours and on matchday itself, the job shifts from "remember this" to "get ready now": a reminder to arrive in good time, a heads-up on when the fan shop and food stalls open, a short, concrete push confirming the match is coming and something worth showing up for is waiting at halftime. Together, these notifications make sure the app is downloaded, updated, and open before fans sit down. Skip this step, and a fan fumbling through a download during halftime simply gives up.
2. Halftime: Engage
Halftime is arguably the highest-attention window of the entire matchday. Phones out, nobody watching the pitch. The instant the whistle blows, send the push. Sync it with the big screen, and it stops feeling like a notification and starts feeling like an event.
What's behind that push matters just as much as the timing. A live stadium quiz is one option, but halftime is also the natural moment to launch a Man of the Match vote, surface live stats for both teams, or let fans dig into an individual player's numbers. Clubs still running an anonymous stadium quiz through a tool like Kahoot entertain the crowd but capture nothing. No profile, no data, no way to reach that fan again. A push-triggered, logged-in feature does both at once: it gives fans something worth doing in the stands, and it adds a fan to the club's own data set every time they vote, play, or check a stat.
3. Full-time: Capitalize
After the final whistle, fans check their phones again. This is the moment to close the loop: send the match report, a highlights reel, or post-match player ratings, content fans actively want the second the result is confirmed. A personal, relevant push gets opened; a generic "thanks for watching" gets ignored.
This is also where the day's engagement turns into something a commercial team can measure. Every vote cast, stat checked, or article read across the day feeds back into the club's own data set turning one matchday into returning fans and turning attention into sponsorship inventory with real numbers behind it, not just "visibility to a crowd of 20,000."
